Set Up Your Social Media Accounts

Social media is critical to start building your audience.  Here are some guidelines we ask you to follow when setting up your channels:

Facebook
Still the grandaddy of social media…

  • We ask all Maker Faires to set up a Facebook Page for their event. (This is true even if you are a museum or other institution that has it’s own page.)
  • You must have an individual Facebook account set up to create the page for the Maker Faire.
  • Designate the page a Community Organization + an Event + Arts & Entertainment.
  • You may create an Event off the page for each annual event (this can be a useful marketing mechanism).

Twitter

  • Set up Twitter account with appropriate square logo.
  • The User Name is limited to 15 characters. Our preference is that you use “MakerFaire(CityName)” (you do not need “Community” in the name). If your city name or common city name abbreviation is longer than 5 characters, please email makerfaire@make.co for approval of your proposed Twitter User Name.
